The Bell Aliant Centre Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment, and upcoming arrival, of Kevin Penny to the position of General Manager. A visionary recreation management professional and fitness enthusiast, Kevin has demonstrated a true passion for supporting individuals to hone their abilities and unlock their potential. His background is an indication of his ability to leverage the power of collaboration to create an environment of efficiency, innovation, and continuous growth.
During his career, Kevin has led community programs, developed two non-profit boards of directors, and spearheaded numerous facilities while identifying and implementing capital upgrades. His contributions in senior recreation/sports leadership roles include reputable organizations such as the City of Thunderbay, British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association, National Fitness Leadership Association of Canada, Trent University Department of Athletics and Recreation, Bowls Canada, and Triathlon Canada.
Owing to his intellectual curiosity, he strives to continuously learn more, which has allowed him to complete numerous certifications as a coach, fitness trainer, and diversity and inclusion advocate. Kevin holds an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Western University, Advanced Not-for-Profit Governance, and Certified Pool Operator with the National Swimming Pool Foundation.
In addition to his extensive professional experience, Kevin enjoys volunteering as a way of giving back to the community. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors at Thunder Bay Age Friendly and has been part of the organizing committees with Ottawa Race Weekend, Army Run, and YMCA/YWCA of Vancouver Island.
Kevin is pleased to go from calling Prince Edward Island a favourite East Coast vacation destination to now calling it his new home. Welcome to the Bell Aliant Centre sports and recreation family Kevin!
